You Were There
There are times in life where you feel so alone. You don’t know where to turn or if anyone even cares. It has been a couple years since I have been able to write because of this feeling.
Circumstances in life can seem so overwhelming that you don’t even have the strength to pray. Even though we cannot feel or see it at times, God is there. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, …before Abraham was born, I am!” -John 8:58 God was there when I lost my only child to a miscarriage. God was there when I was so lost and confused and didn’t know Him. God was there when I was not living in His will and suffering the consequences. God was there when I suffered tremendous heartbreak over lost relationships. God was there when I sought comfort in everything else but Him. God was there when I heard the news of my new husband’s terminal cancer. God was there when all my hopes and dreams were crushed. God was there when my husband passed away at 47. God was there when I shut myself off from the world. God was there when I struggled with the temptation to lose faith. Coming out of the heaviest spiritual battle of my life, I stand even stronger knowing that GOD WAS THERE. I feel His presence more profoundly now than ever. If you find that life’s circumstances are overwhelming, put on the armor of God and let Him fight the battle for you! Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. (Ephes. 6:10-11) |
After all as believers, we are to expect trials. The key is recognizing that there is purpose in trials. In order to gain the perseverance, character, and hope we need to fulfill God’s call in our lives, we must experience trials. The Word says,
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. -Romans 5:3-5 The good news is that, if we can make it to the other side, God leaves us with the greatest gift of all… hope. I have hope today that God is still on the throne and in control. I know that He cares. And He cares for you. So cast your cares on Him and tell Him what you are going through. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. -1 Peter 5:7 When you have the strength, cry out to Him. He says He will hear you. There are many of you who are facing trials right now: financial stress, marital trouble, illness, loss of a child, and many, many other trials. I can only tell you that God is there. Prayer: God, I’ve been so consumed with the trials of life. You know what they are. I am so lost and need You. Heal my brokenness. Thank you that You were there before the world existed and You love me. I ask that You minister to my heart comfort, peace, and direction. Lord, tell me the very next steps I need to take. You alone are in control of my life. Amen Copyright 2009 From My Heart To Yours |
